LMMI & UPEI 50th

L.M. Montgomery's and UPEI's stories are entwined. Montgomery is a UPEI alumna, having graduated from Prince of Wales College (PWC), a founding UPEI institution, in 1894. Much research on Montgomery's writing and many celebrations of her legacy have been held at the university. In 1993, the L.M. Montgomery Institute was launched at UPEI, leading to biennial conferences, essay collections, and visiting scholars from around the world. In UPEI's 50th, the LMMI has launched an online, open access journal (journaloflmmontgomerystudies.ca). Experience Montgomery's and UPEI's shared story through this interactive timeline online or in UPEI's Robertson Library lobby (end of July to end of September).

This timeline was created by Heidi Haering, L.M. Montgomery Institute student assistant, with financial support from the Office of the President at the University of Prince Edward Island. Drs. Kate Scarth and David Hickey were also part of the map development team. Special thanks to Dr. Betsy Epperly, L.M. Montgomery Institute Founder, and Mr. Simon Lloyd, UPEI Library Special Collections, for content advice and archival material. Thanks also to Dr. Philip Smith for general support and advice and to Mr. Donald Moses for technical support. Dr. Donna J. Campbell's L.M. Montgomery donations to UPEI (many available on KindredSpaces.ca) make projects like this possible.
